CNN to Deliver News to Hardcore Gamers Via Wii News Channel
The Hardcore Gamer Video Game News By host on 10/30/2006 10:52 AM
The British gaming magazine EDGE has an exclusive interview with the current marketing director of Nintendo of Europe, Laurent Fischer. In the article some amazing things come to light about Wii.

Here are few from the NeoGAF site:

- CNN has signed up with Nintendo as the provider of news content on tne News Channel in American and Japan. News will be presented by category, but another way of getting to it is by spinning the weather globe to find stories in different countries

- Sega has moved a significant number of development staff from PS3 to Wii over the Summer

- Although Nintendo has removed DVD movie playback from the Wii, it plans to launch in Japan next year an enhanced Wii capable of such a feature

Mod your Xbox 360 Controller So That It Is Actually Responsive.

Call us crazy but when we tap forward on the controller, register as a button press. So, the guys over at UFighterX.com hate the Xbox 360's D-pad, just like the rest of us hardcore gamers. Except for one difference, they did something about it. Here is their article on how to make your Xbox 360 D-pad actually function like a D-pad, that way you can go back to pulling off your SF2 dizzies and your UMK3 11 hitters.

So until Microsoft answers our prayers for a GOOD arcade stick, their article on how to mod your Xbox 360 controller will have to do.

A Moment of Silence for the Closing of Lik-Sang

Lik-Sang Closes due to Sony Lawsuits
Alas poor Lik-Sang, we knew them well. Many a game came our way from Lik-Sang in their Air Freight bags. Musashi, our resident importer, will be taking this harder then the rest of us.

Is this good news for NCSX and Play-Asia because they will be filling the gap that Lik-Sang leaves behind? Or is it bad news because this sets a precedent and they are next?

Goodbye Lik-Sang, thanks for the memories. You will be missed.

Important Notice: Lik-Sang.com Out of Business due to Multiple Sony Lawsuits

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - OUT OF BUSINESS NOTICE

Hong Kong, October 24th of 2006 - Lik-Sang.com, the popular gaming retailer from Hong Kong, has today announced that it is forced to close down due to multiple legal actions brought against it by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Limited and Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. Sony claimed that Lik-Sang infringed its trade marks, copyright and registered design rights by selling Sony PSP consoles from Asia to European customers, and have recently obtained a judgment in the High Court of London (England) rendering Lik-Sang's sales of PSP consoles unlawful.

As of today, Lik-Sang.com will not be in the position to accept any new orders and will cancel and refund all existing orders that have already been placed. Furthermore, Lik-Sang is working closely with banks and PayPal to refund any store credits held by the company, and the customer support department is taking care of any open transactions such as pending RMA ...

Marvel Ultimate Alliance Ships this Week (Great Deal Too!)
The Hardcore Gamer Video Game News By host on 10/23/2006 12:14 PM
When we got our demo of Marvel Ultimate Alliance at E3 in May we enjoyed what we saw. Sure it's basically X-men Legends but with the entire Marvel Universe but if it ain't broke don't fix it. The graphics are beautiful, especially on the Xbox 360 version. The shear scale of MUA compared to either of the previous X-men games make this a zero-day buy. In our demo, we were shown an amazingly detailed level where a giant Galactus was moving through a futuristic city, (Skrull?), as the Marvel heroes ran head of his path of destruction on a suspended walkway hundreds of feet above the city below. Pure comic magic. They also have carried over the "comic-mission" levels as well, so that you and your trusty team can fight in some of the most famous comic battles in Marvel history. Plus, the new aspect of experience bonuses alloted for keeping your same team together through out is a nice feature that can only lead to replayability and massive experimentation.

If you are considering picking it up, don't hesitate. With over 100 characters from the Marvel Universe and an almost infinite combination of teams available, you'll be running and gunning with a Ghost Rider, Deadpool, Wolverine, and Thing team in no time.

Plus, if you buy it this week at Circuit City you get X-men the game for free. Yes, for free. Yes, that Xmen game. Yes, the same one that just came out a few months ago. Yes, the one that sucked so bad. Beggers can't be choosers and it sure beats the free comic Best Buy is offering. How bad could it be for free? Not to mention there's 1000 easy gamerpoints in X-men the game. so watch the trailer below and get as excited as we are for Marvel Ultimate Alliance.

Hardcore Clips of the Day - Armored Core 4
The Hardcore Gamer Video Game News By host on 10/19/2006 6:38 AM
Hardcore gamers and mech fans thought the Armored Core series was over after Last Raven, but a teaser from E3 made hardcore mech fans scratch their collective heads. The developer, "From Software", confirmed that the successful Armored Core series will be continuing its legacy on next-generation consoles. We have no idea if these in-game videos are from the Xbox 360 build or the Playstation 3 build, (our money is on the Xbox 360 version), but either way its looking good. Pay close attention to the terrain deformation happening on the sand when the mech lands, then skids to a stop. Those little details of realism along with true physics are what the next generation of gaming is about, not just graphics.

Rogue Galaxy is Shaping Up Nicely
The Hardcore Gamer Video Game News By host on 10/18/2006 12:53 PM
Ok, we know Rogue Galaxy looks like Dragon Quest in space, but is that really a bad thing? It is Level-5 developing after all. Musashi, once again, was the first to really put this title in the spotlight for hardcore gamers. Musashi knows his shit when it comes to hardcore gaming, especially when it comes to JRPGs, so his word is good enough for us. Check out the new screenshots below to see what has got Musashi so excited. We've also posted a Q&A with the Nao Higo, the U.S. Producer.

Rogue Galaxy Q&A
Answered by Nao Higo, U.S. Producer

Q: How would you describe the world of Rogue Galaxy? What were the influences in creating the story and overall art direction?
A: The game is heavily influenced by iconic action movies and popular sci-fi franchises. We even include nods to some of them in-game in the form of parodies. After working on Dark Cloud, Level-5 decided we wanted to do something different. So they discussed possible projects and decided upon making a sci-fi game. Space pirates actually weren’t the initial choice – they toyed with the idea of a semi-futuristic game based around a [cyberspace premise]. But ultimately the concept didn’t reflect Level’s 5 signature style, so they did some tweaking and thus we have Rogue Galaxy.

Q: How is the combat system in Rogue Galaxy unique for an RPG?
A: You control one character but have access to two allies that you control through various commands. As you progress through the game, you will have access to eight total characters, which you can switch out at any time. Of course, you can switch between the three characters at any time during battle. There is a unique suggestion system where your two allies will ask if they can perform certain attacks and you can instruct them how to engage.
