Realtime Worlds Reaquires Rights to 'All Points Bulletin'
By HCG Dreadsorrow on 5/12/2008 4:45 PM

I don't know how I missed this one, but here it is anyway.

Check out Warcry's interview with Realtime World's Walter Kong.

In the latter half of April, Realtime Worlds, the creators of Crackdown, have announced that they have reacquired all rights to All Points Bulletin (APB), the police vs. criminals MMO under development since 2005.

Not only that, but they also nailed down a whopping $50 million bucks in financing, plus are building the game around the Unreal 3 engine. This ensures that unless they are complete smacktards, they will have absolutely no excuse for not producing an MMO of total pwnage.

For those of us that have been enjoying GTA4, but yet telling ourselves that it would be even more uber if instead of just a few other people to play with, we had a few thousand in a truly sandbox environment. APB may be the answer to those MMO enthusiasts that are bored all to ing hell of orcs and elves.

The original timeline for this title gave a release of 2008, but with all the hooplah, hopefully put to rest for good, I wouldn't expect this game until sometime in 2009, but that may change once we start gertting more updates, previews, devlog and the such in the coming months.

MMO News Roundup
By HCG Dreadsorrow on 5/6/2008 6:15 PM
Here's some various bits of MMO news that I find interesting. If you disagree, then you are wrong.

Tabula Blogger is running a competition to have a sketch of your Tabula Rasa character done by one of the artists at NCSoft. Very cool.

Activision, Vivendi have pulled out of E3. They are apparently holding a separate press event the same time as the first day of E3. I'd love to know what is going on here. It is known now that Blizzard has amicably acquired the domain diablo3.com, also they are working on another unannounced MMO, so speculation is running wild!

Massively.com has an interesting article about the use of virtual worlds being used as an aid in addiction therapy. Suck it Jack Thompson, or maybe you want to tell my mommy on me? You worthless rectal wart.

Ending on a high note, WarCry Network has a good preview up on Stargate Worlds. Go over and give it a read, and if you haven't already, sign up for the Stargate Worlds beta test.

That's all for now. Liberty City is calling ...

I Formally Invite BioWare to Kiss My Ass
By HCG Dreadsorrow on 5/6/2008 5:44 PM
Read the article here, then follow along for my commentary.

First of all, to BioWare, here ya go buddy!

Screw you Bioware!
Let me just say that I was looking forward to Spore. I would probably have bought it the first day. Now I don't care if the game comes with coupon for a free hummer from Tricia Helfer. I wouldn't buy this ing game for anything.

I am ing sick to death of being treated like a goddamn criminal by media companies that I have given my hard-earned money to in good faith for their product. I have bought BioWare products in the past and enjoyed them very much. I will no longer buy your crap, since I will have to prove to you over and over again that I am not stealing what I have paid for.

In the 14 years that I have owned my truck, never once has Ford ever come to me and demanded to see my title. Never once has Hitachi demanded to see the receipt for my TV. Never once have I had to prove to Roomfull Express that I am the rightful owner of my living room sofa, or else they would not let me sit on it any more.

Don't you bastards go and blame EA for this either. Everybody already knows they suck donkey balls, especially with their onerous copy prevention bullshit. I already went a few rounds with those assholes over a game that I paid for (Battle for Middle Earth) not running on my system because I dared to install a DVD burner on my computer.

You, BioWare smacktards, you disappoint me greatly. Mostly because ...

MMO News Buffet
By HCG Dreadsorrow on 4/24/2008 6:20 PM
Lord of the Rings Online
Turbine's LOTRO has a good week, celebrating its one-year anniversary since going live, as well as the launch of its latest major update (free of course). Read more about it here.

World of Warcraft Miniature Game
Blizzard has a miniatures game coming out this fall, and we now have some details of the game available to us. Read up on the details here.

Champions Online
The Champions Online website has a new article up bearing an interview with Lead Content Designer, Zeke Sparks. He talks about some assorted stuff. I have to admit, he is light on the details about the game, and I couldn't give a crap about other stuff he talks about, but this is just my cheap way to maybe drive a click or two to their web area to check out this jewel in development. I am hoping that this will be the first MMO I buy for a console.

Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures
Yes the day is finally almost here! The mighty Conan MMO has at last gone gold! From their website: "The Most Savage, Sexy and Brutal MMO Ever Created Hits The Store Shelves Soon." My naughty parts are tingling already, with the promise of over-the-top violence, and even the very first boobs in a major MMO release! HCG Dreadsorrow is p ...

Uwe Boll is a Horse Turd
By HCG Dreadsorrow on 4/21/2008 4:48 PM

Let me first say that to those gamers that know and love World of Warcraft, or even people with more than 2 functioning brain cells who know Uwe Boll for the worthless toilet floater that he is, you need not fear. Uwe Boll went to Blizzard to tell them he wanted to create another of his abominations, by bringing the world of Azeroth to the big screen. Blizzard's response was the best official corporate response about anything, to anyone, anywhere.

Paul Sams of Blizzard told Uwe Boll: ‘We will not sell the movie rights, not to you...especially not to you,’

Read the article on MTV's movie blog here.

And just in case you are a blubbering lobotomy patient that thinks Uwe Boll is an 'artist with vision', let's just take a gander at what this diarrhea splatter had to say about gamers like us:

"And to be honest, the real gamers are the typical download guys, right? They don’t pay anything for movies, because they illegally download the movies. So why I should please these guys? I need the normal audience."

Speaking for myself, Uwe Boll your movies are so astoundingly shitty that I would rather spend two hours watching old people hump than waste a chunk of my life to see another one of the travesties that you somehow get movie studios to dish out millions of dollars for. Your movies suck so hard that two hours of Wilford Brimley masturbating would pull in better box office returns. Please please please for the love of the everything that does not suck, please stop making movies.

If you want to sign the petition for Uwe Boll to st ...

Star Vault announces their first MMO: Mortal Online
By HCG Dreadsorrow on 4/14/2008 3:48 PM

Mortal Online, the first MMO offering of developer Star Vault, looks very pretty in their teaser video, and the idea of open and unrestricted PVP might appeal to those players that have a microscopic penis and need to validate themselves by 'ganking newbs' in a meaningless and arbitrary way. However, you will have to wait until at least the summer of 2009 to make an even bigger prick out of yourself by ruining someone else's day.

This game will likely be a stellar financial success, where game performance will depend greatly on the steep system requirements and ping times below 0.5 microseconds required for decent performance. But of course, I will be told to "go back to WoW" as I prefer to enjoy an MMO as opposed to frantically trying to stay alive while being ganked repeatedly by some quivering vaginal discharge living in his mommy's house.

If you want to play against other players in a contest of actual skill, try some of the fine games based upon that very ideal. Games like Unreal Tournament, Quake 4, Gears of War, etc.

Oh, of course, those players can fight back, so they wont be able to hit their hot keys ('I Win buttons') and instead might have to stop fondling themselves over a printout of Tricia Helfer and actually play against someone who can kick their ass.

You dingleberries know who you are. Go do something more productive, like offer to supersize my fries instead of mutating what might actually be a decent virtual world and online game into your own personal loser strokefest.

Mortal Online = FAIL

LOTRO - Venture Into the Frozen Northlands
By HCG Dreadsorrow on 4/9/2008 6:48 PM

Coming soon to a virtual Middle Earth near you: Lord of the Rings Online - Book 13: Doom of the Last-king!

This free content update will allow players to venture forth into the frozen land of Forochel. and lend aid to the Lossoth in their struggle against their ancient enemy in Angmar.

Check out some of the juicy details:
Book 13: Crafting the Content of Forochel
Massively.com interview with LOTRO's Jeffrey Steefel

Forochel is not simply some land made up by the people at Turbine. Tolkien actually did write about the frozen lands, although it was only in passing. But those that are fans of Tolkien know that the shear amount of material he created for his fantastic realm is overwhelming, with the vast majority of it not actually taking place in the brief snapshot in time that was 'The Hobbit' and 'The Lord of the Rings'. This should allow the developers of LOTRO to expand their realm for many years to come.
