Since the main focus of shelf life is to keep you guys informed about gaming collectibles and rare titles of the past, present and future - It's about time I posted a future collectible! (Well, in my opinion...)
Game: Chaos Wars
Genre: Strategy RPG
System: Playstation 2
Release Date: April 25th, 2008
So why is it a game to watch?
Well, for a couple reasons.
First off, it's a GameStop only exclusive, which means a smaller print run to accomodate the exclusive deal. Also, Chaos Wars is being published in the U.S. O3 Entertainment who - no offense - doesn't seem that large of a publisher to pump out a lot of copies.
Secondly is the game's content. Chaos Wars is basically a cross-over Strategy RPG extravaganza (always wanted to use that word) of 4 different game franchises / studios, most of which never made it to the States:
Aruze - Shadow Hearts series
Atlus - Growlanser series
Idea Factory - Blazing Souls, Gakuen Toshi Vara Noir, Spectral Force, Spectral Souls and Hametsu no Mars
RED Entertainment - Gungrave and Samurai Police / Shinsengumi Gunrouden
So basically, for $39.99, you're getting the Super Smash Brothers of Strategy RPG's (Namco x Capcom would be a better comparison, but it wasn't released in the U.S.). There's a slight buzz around the internet about Chaos Wars, so I wouldn't be surprised to see it become scarce on the shelves in a short amount of time.
